In November 2015 Musa Behi was selected as the presidential candidate for the ruling Peace, Unity, and Development Party. The presidential candidate for the Justice and Development Party will be Jamal Ali Hussein. Hussein became the party's candidate after party leader Faysal Ali Warabe announced his intention to not run again after losing two previous elections.
